Elon Musk acquires Twitter
Twitter has accepted Mr. Musk's offer, valued at 44,000 million US dollars.
This official agreement marks the end of a news cycle about Tesla and SpaceX's CEO becoming Twitter's majority shareholder.
It comes after Elon Musk revealed last week he'd raised 46,500 million US dollars to acquire the company.
This would put the richest man in the World at the helm of one of the most influential social media platforms.
The multi-millionaire's main goal is to reinforce freedom of speech and try to unlock Twitter's "extraordinary potential".
Elon Musk's statement
"I invested in Twitter as I believe in its potential to be the platform for free speech around the globe, and I believe free speech is a societal imperative for a functioning democracy".
