Are changes coming to Twitter?

Elon Musk officially became Twitter's majority shareholder on Saturday after announcing his purchase of 9,2% of the platform's stock.

Tesla's CEO suggested changes are on the way, regarding their premium Twitter Blue subscription service, including lowering its price, blocking ads and the option of paying with Dogecoin cryptocurrency.

Among these changes, he expressed interest in changing the platform's name and removing its "W" by posting a poll for his followers with the options being "Yes" and "Of course".

This could be considered part of his love-hate relationship with Twitter. He's an avid Tweeter, with over 80 million followers, and no stranger to controversy as far as his interactions with the plaform are concerned.

Freedom of expression

Musk uses Twitter not only as a benchmark of how to run his own companies, but also increasingly to get a feel of the national conversations.

This past month, before his stock purchase became public, he asked users whether they believed freedom of expression to be essential for a functioning democracy and if they thought Twitter currently adheres to this principle.
